TRANSFERS IN POLICE FORCE
EXTRA SERGEANT APPOINTED TO CHRISTCHURCH Notice of several appointments and transfers affecting the .Canterburypolice district has been received by Superintendent D. J. Cummings. Two sergeants will leave Christchurch, and three will be replaced, thus leaving an extra sergeant for all night duty in the office. Sergeant W. T. Kelly, formerly of Christchurch, and now of Ashburton, ha? been promoted to senior-sergeant, and transferred to Invercargill. Sergeant J. F. Cleary, of Wanganui. has been transferred to Ashburton to take his place, and Sergeant F. C. Harrison, of the Central Station, Christchurch. has been transferred to Wanganui. Constable P. O'Gorman, in charge of the Arms Office, at Christchurch, has been appointed to the charge of the Avondale Station, at Auckland. The three newly-promoted sergeants to come to Christchurch are all from the North Island. They are: Constable A. H. Barnes, of Ormondville, Hawke's Bay; Constable S. King, of Fitzroy, Taranaki, and Constable C. Murphy, district clerk at Whangarei. WELLINGTON TRANSFERS IPRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.I WELLINGTON. March 2.
