pleased to receive green vegetables and bread in the week. Increase In Applications Although more cases were dealt, with at St. Martin's House of Help, Ihe Rev. P. Revell said that the week had not been unduly busy. The increase in applications he imputed lo the prevalence of sickness, which caused people to approach him for a few extra comforts.

I The resources of the depot were in a poor condition, and their task was one almost of building up again from the beginnng. Vegetables and groceries had been valued gifts in the week, but there was still a lack of both and Mr Revell feared, so slowly was money coming in, that next week all groceries foulri have to be bought out of his own fund. Men's clothing, too, was in short .supply. One class of contribution he would be glad to receive was crockery and household utensils. He had visited the homes of some of his charges and the state of their houses was distressing. Breakages of crockery could not be replaced and there was a groat need of utensils. The depot was not assisting relief workers as such, but only where they had sickness in their families or sudden emergency, in these circumstances, an applicant would pass from a case of relief worker to one of indigent poor. With the return of men from seasonal employment in the country, the numbers at the men's guest house in Antigua street are beginning to increase, and this week about 20 men were daily supplied with meals and a bed. Few of those returning had dene very well in the way of re-establish-ing themselves, and most of them had spent their earnings in buying clothes. They were of a fine type, said Mr Revell, and were obviously pleased to get work to do. All had registered in an attempt to get into the camps for unemployed men. A Busy Week Major G. Dry, of the Salvation Army men's home, had had a busy week, providing for the 84 men who stayed at the home, which is an increase of three on last wsek's number. Meals were supplied totalling 1724 and beds 570. No men had obtained work.

Green vegetables had come in but more were required, together with fruit and jam. Men's clothing, said Major Dry, seemed to be a permanent need —men's suits, or even working trousers, could easily be used. The very good health of the men, which had been noticeable, could be attributed to the regular meals and the good ventilation of the dormitories.
