PRICES REDUCED IN AUCKLAND

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.* AUCKLAND, March 3. Local wholesale butter prices will be reduced by one penny a pound tomorrow. The new rates will be: Finest and first grade, lid; second grade, lOd; whey butter, 9d. METHVEN STOCK SALE The usual fortnightly stock sale was held m the Alethven saleyards on Thursday, when there was a large attendance of farmers. The yardings of sheep were considerably ahead of recent sales, especially in the storo section. The fat stock was of good quality. The tup price was 24s for a line of six iat lambs, and 21s lid for a lino of 67. I'at ewes made up to 14s 7d. The store market was of a decidedly better tone. The prices and quality of the few cattle offered were very low. About 50 pigs were offered, and sold at recent rates. POULTRY PRODUCERS, LTD. The Canterbury Co-operative Poultry Producers, Ltd., report that exceptionally heavy yardings of all classes of poultry came to hand at the weekly sales, held on Wednesday and Friday last. Ducklings were again in evidence, but unfortunately the sale for these was on the slow side, especially for unfinished lines. Chickens, both heavy and medium, showed a slight increase in values, while well-finished light chicken were eagerly sought after. The majority of the boilers offered for sale were on the light side. All lines were disposed of, and prices realised were most satisfactory. The following prices were realised a pair:—Chicken, heavy, short of supply but in good demand, realised up to 9s 3d; medium, in fair supply, and sold as high as 7s 6d; light, realised up to 3s 9d; boilers, heavy: the demand for these is in excess of supply, the top price being 5s 6d: medium to light: comprised the bulk of the pennings, realising up to 3s 6d. ducks, light, to 2s 6d; heavy, 4s 3d; goslings, to 6s 6d; pullets, up to 10s, while turkeys realised from lOd to Is per lb. Egg Market—Eggs, machine graded, tested and guaranteed, first grade Is 2d; second grade, Is Id. _g
