The bats cam from a bush reserve nearby, »« some years ago a small colony ** known to exist. It is ai able time since any of the nou hold saw signs of the colony, n° ever, and the reappearance 01 animals was therefore n-tea w keen interest. It is believed W they are of the long-tailed v?«ew, a species native to New and now becoming comparative rare throughout the Dominion. * pair seen by Mr Monckton hover . over the homestead during . - whole of the period in whichJttg were observed, and apparent were hunting moths.
