With the progress of bitumen sealing of county roads, the provision of drinking places for travelling stock is becoming a problem. In modern road construction culverts are being greatly extended, so preventing access by stock to small streams, while by means of waterdrives water is being taken away from the' reach of stock, says a northern paper. As certain highways must remain stock routes, the provision of a sufficient number of watering places is essential. At the last meeting of the Hawke's Bay County Council this question was raised by Mr R. Harding, and the matter was referred to a committee, which is to make an investigation of the various roads, with a view to providing drinking places for stock at suitable places. In this work valuable help could be given by drovers and others interested in travelling stock. Have you anything to sell?—Do you wish to buy?
