Chatham Islands; but a slight depression is crossing the southern portion o£ the South Island. Winds—Moderate to strong east to north-east north of Kawhia and Napier; north-westerlies thence southward through Canterbury, but a southerly change advancing from the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough about Cook Strait and Foveaux Strait and north of East Cape; elsewhere moderate. " Eastern Tasman Sea—Variable winds, with moderate south-easterlies predominating; seas moderate. Weather —Mainly fine and warm. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 72 degrees. Wellington—Yesterday was another line, warm day. It was rather cloudy at times, and a moderate north-easterly wind blew. The maximum temperature was 72.6 degrees. Dunedin—Yesterday Dunedin experienced hot summer weather. The sun shone brightly in the morning, but there was considerable cloud in the afternoon.
