The last act of the Saar drama begins to-day, when Mr Geoffrey Knox (chairman of the Governing Commission) formally hands over the administration of the territory to Baron Aloisi. chairman of the League of Nations' Committee of Three. Mr Knox will leave the Saar m the afternoon. Dr. Wilhelm Frick, on behalf of Germany, will then receive the administration from Baron Aloisi.

Warm praise for the services of the Saar international forces is contained in a letter circulated among members of the League of Nations. The letter which is signed by Mr G. G. Knox chairman of the Saar Governing Commission, after expressing appreciation of the rapidity with which the troops were dispatched, refers to the "exemplary conduct and perfect discipline" observed by them. Not the slightest incident occurred between the international force and the Saar population, while complete harmony prevailed among the various contingents thanks to the "close and intelligent co-operation maintained between their commanders under the authority of the general officer commanding in chief." The Italian contingent left Saarbrucken for home yesterday after a ceremony in which Major-General J. E. S. Brind bade them farewell A company of the East Lancashire Regiment formed a guard of honour on the station, and the British and Italian national anthems were played. The administration of the Saar will be handed over to the German Government on March 1 by the committee of three which will take over from the Governing Commission tomorrow. From then the German police will assume responsibility for maintaining order. KNIGHTHOOD FORECAST FOR MR KNOX LONDON, February 27. The "Daily Express" forecasts that Mr Geoffrey G. Knox, chairman of the Saar Governing Commission from 1932, will be knighted on the occasion of the King's silver jubilee.
