HEALTH STAMPS WITHDRAWN
4> POOR SALES THIS SEASON In accordance with the usual, custom of the Post and Telegraph and Health Departments, health stamps were withdrawn from sale in the Dominion yesterday. Each year the stamps are introduced for use some time in November, in order to catch the local and overseas Christmas mails, and are withdrawn again on the last day in February. This year it is considered that, all round, the sales have been rather less than those of other years. The stamps are issued to most of the post offices in the Dominion during the period in which they are offered for sale, and according to the number sold in each of the main district centres, a corresponding allowance is made by the Health Department to the authorities in charge of the summer health camps in those districts. From time to time members and friends of the Sunlight League in Christchurch have given voluntary assistance by selling stamps in the lobby at the Chief Post Office. The camps for Christchurch children are usually held at Okain's Bay, but last year, an additional camp was held at Pigeon Bay.
