RETIREMENT OF MR E. BULL

LONG CONNEXION WITH CANDLE INDUSTRY The retirement took effect in Wellington recently of Mr Edward Bull, managing director of the New Zealand Candle Company, Ltd.. who was connected with the candle industry in New Zealand for 50 years. Mr Bull's retirement was honoured at a farewell gathering arranged by other manufacturers in the industry, at which he was presented with a mahogany desk and chair. A presentation was also made to Mrs Bull. Appreciative references were made to Mr Bull's work for the industry. It was stated that the history of Mr Bull's career since 1884, a'nd of his relation to the candle industry, was virtually a history of the industry in New Zealand for the last 50 vears. Mr Bull joined Messrs J. Kitchen"and Sons and the Apollo Company in Wellington in 1884. In 1893, the New Zealand Candle Company, Ltd., was formed. In 1894, this company bought Kitchen and Son's business and Mr Bull joined the staff. A few years later he became secretary and manager of the company and subsequently managingdirector.
