♦ NEW BRIGHTON AMATEUR CLUB Mr W. Stevens, sen., presided at a meeting of the New Brighton Amateur Cycling Club held at North Beach last evening. A reply was received from the Canterbury Amateur Cycling Centre refusing permission for the club to hold races up to live miles. General dissatisfaction was expressed at the attitude of the centre. It was decided to take no further action at present. Mr W. Stevens, sen., was elected delegate to the centre. Mr G. Hoadley was elected club captain in place of Mr W. J. Palmer, who has resigned. MARSHLAND NOVICE CLUB Eighteen riders started in the seven-mile road rare held by the club on Monday evening, mid Ihft race resulted in one of the best finishes since the club began. The scratch men, Harris, Whitraore, Martin, and rainier, conceded 2min start and gained -Msec in the first round. The finish was exciting, 10 meu almost crossing the mark together.
