OUTBREAK OF FIRE AT BEATH'S
. At 1.20 yesterday morning the Central Brigade received a call to Beath's new building in Colombo sti-eet. A small fire had broken out in some rubbish and waste left by the workmen, but the fire was suppressed before any damage had been done. A passer-by noticed smoke coming from the building soon after I o'clock, and he informed a constable, who climbed the scaffolding, and after investigating the orifin of the fire, notified the Fire Brigade. It is thought that the fire was starred by some damp sacks of lime nearby.
