Swimming The Lyttelton Ladies' Swimming Club will hold the following races at Corsair Bay on Saturday afternoon, commencing at 2.15:—100 yards championship, for Mrs Colin Cook's Cup; 75 yards championship for members, 16 years of age and under, for a cup presented by Miss Mary Crawford; relay race. ' The Lyttelton Amateur Swimming Club will hold a 50 yards handicap race and a 33 1-3 yards handicap race at Corsair Bay on Saturday afternoon. Harbour Light Theatre How jealousy conceived a "perfect" crime is the theme of "The Crime Doctor," a drama starring Otto Kruger and Karen Morley, which will be screened at the Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening and tomorrow evening. The story centres around an eerie and calculated murder, the motive which prompted it and the skilful manner in which the killer diverts suspicion. There is a startling finish which cannot be foreseen. The short subjects include a cartoon, news, and a comedy. Sailing A race for yachts of 14 feet and over will be held at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon for the Beryl Stacey trophy. The race is to be conducted by the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club on behalf of the Canterbury Sailing and Power Boat Association, and is an inter-club contest. The Canterbury Yacht and MotorBoat Club will hold a race for Takapuna sailing boats on Saturday afternoon for the Graham Cup. The conditions are the same as for the Z class contest. Magistrate's Court Mr H. A. Young, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. For being in possession of unlicensed radio receiving sets, Charles Ellis was fined 2s 3d and 10s costs, and George Frederick Briggs was fined 7s 6d and 10s costs. Mary White, who did b not appear, was charged with being in possession of an unlicensed receiving set. Evidence was given that defendant had been fined 15s on December 12 for a similar offence. Defendant had intimated that the set was being returned. Enquiries made showed that she had not returned the set. The Magistrate said that defendant had eight children, and that her husband was only in part-time employment. It was evidently no use in fining the defendant again. He would adjourn the case for 14 days to enable the owners of the set to take possession. Albert Roy Mutton was charged with that, having deducted from the wages of Harry Cave and Joseph E. Bird for the purpose of the emergency unemployment charge the sum of £1 14s, he did fail to pay the amount into the Unemployment Fund within three days thereafter. Defendant pleaded guilty arid was fined 10s, with 16s costs and 3s lOd expanses. Children's Court Three juveniles were charged, at a sitting of the Children's Court, with committing mischief upon launches moored in the boat harbour. Sergeant D. Wilson stated that, as a result of several complaints from launchowners, investigations were made and the charges were a result. The police were determined to prosecute in every case of a like nature. The juveniles were admonished and discharged, the Magistrate remarking
