KISCH TO LEAVE AUSTRALIA
COMMONW EALT H (iOVEUN MEN T CONSENTS MELBOURNE, February 26. With the permission of the Commonwealth Government, Egon Kisch, the Czcchoslovakian author, will leave Australia almost immediately. It was stated at a meeting of the committee arranging a torchlight procession for the release of Kisch and Gerald Griffin that Kisch would be allowed to catch the boat for England on Thursday. The Acting - Attorney - Gftnerai (Senator T. C. Brennan) said that negotiations were proceeding between the Commonwealth's law authorities and Kisch's legal advisers, by which the Commonwealth would consent to Kisch leaving Australia. At present Kisch is under a sentence of three months' imprisonment for being a prohibited immigrant. He appealed successfully twice to the High Court and has two appeals pending. By the Commonwealth's agreeing to his leaving, these appeals will be dropped and the Commonwealth will not seek to have Kisch serve his sentence.
