WOOL SALES
REMAINDER OF ROSTER The following are the dates of the remainder of the current season's Dominion wool sales: — March I—Christchurch. March 4—lnvercargill. March 9—Dunedin. March 13 —Timaru. March 20—Wellington. March 25 —Napier. March 29—Auckland. April I—Wanganui. April s—Christchurch. April B—Dunedin. April 13—Wellington. For a stag to mate with a domestic cow has hitherto been unknown, but. according to information received by a North Island paper, a month-old heifer on Mr A. Love's farm at Taringamotu bears marked characteristics of a deer. The animal, which appears to be perfectly healthy, has a short tdil and the hindquarters of a deer, while only two teats show any signs of development. The head is stated to be smaller than that of an ordinary heifer, and it is thought that the animal is blind in one eye, both eyes being very small. The freak, when walking or running, continually makes the short, nervous jumps peculiar- to the deer. The heifer is from a Jersey cow which was turned out to fatten. This case is all the more interesting owing to the fact that it is stated by reliable authority that these two animals will not cross.
