MONICA PARK SPEEDWAY

* VISIT OF CASE AND LAMONT | ON SATURDAY I Living up to his nickname in Australia, the land of his birth, of "The Flying Dutchman," Lionel Van Pragg was the sensation of the Monica Park Speedway at his first appearance there last Saturday. In spite of his remarkable improvement and his defeat of Charles . Perabo, Jack Hobson was naturally no match for him. Next Saturday Van Praag will be matched against the speedway's two most spectacular riders, Dick Case and Billy Lamont. These two riders need 110 introduction; their names are known all over the world, and it is distinctly gratifying that the new speedway management should have been able to secure three such famous dirt track stars for Christchurch. This will be the only appearance of Case in Christchurch this season, for all the champion riders are now turning towards | England, and as it will also be the last I appearance of Van Praag, no broadsiding patron should miss the meeting. | Case made his first trip to England lin 1930, and since then has been in I continual demand, both in Australia and abroad. After riding with Wimbledon and Coventry, he was last year selected as captain of the Lea Bridge team. He is an official test rider, an international pairs championship rider, and recently beat the veteran Englishman, Joe Abbott, in a special match race. Case is one of the most spectacular riders in the world. Lamont has ridden all over the world and collected a large number of trophies in the process, has held the world's championship, and has represented Australia in test matches on 25 occasions. Last year he visited America with three other riders and was victorious wherever he went. He also is a spectacular performer. With these, three at Monica Park on Saturday, patrons are assured of by far the most thrilling night's racing to date.
