! The Sydenham Amateur Swimming Club held its annual carnival in the Sydenham baths oa Saturday. The carnival uras opened by Mr T. 11. Itutterfield After the racing tho club captain, Mr D. At a swimming carnival in the Te Aro baths on Saturday afternoon Derek Plank iWellington> won by a; comfortable margin the 220 yards freestyle provincial championship in 2mm 40 2-ssec. The holder, J. C. Blakeley. did not defend his title. The 220 yards breaststroke championship was retained bv K. Spry (Wellington) by 10 yards. The provincial diving championship was won by R. Tupper fHutt\ who outclassed the opposition.
