MALE VOICE CHOIR

ANNUAL MEETING i The Chnstchurch Male Voice Choir j held its annual meeting 011 Saturday j evening, the president, Mr S. Cliftou j Bingham, being in. the chair. I The annual report, read by the honorary secretary, Colonel M. M.i Gard'ner, paid a tribute to the genius of the conductor. Dr. J. C. Bradshaw, I and briclly reviewed the activities of the vear. In common with most societies of this nature, the choir had suffered a further decline in the number of subscribers. This was 110 doubt due to the general depression, but it was greatly to be hoped that during the coming year the citizens o£ Christcluirch or those who were interested in culture, would show in a more practical way their appreciation of the Male Voice Choir. With both men's and boys' voices at all of its concerts, the choir had done much towards the advancement of good music during its 17 years of existence. The report recorded the thanks of the society to Dr. Bradshaw for his untiring work both with the men and tlie boys: also to the Cathedral choristers. * whoso association with the choir had added so much to the con-' cert p. Tiie Bristol Piano Company was specially thanked, and also Miss Aileen Warren, the honorary accompanist. The honorary treasurer. Mr W. 1). Clifton BingI ham, in moving the adoption of the annual report and accounts, re-echoed tho high tribute to Dr. Bradshaw's genius, and commended the way in which the choir had recently done honour to another great musician, Sir Edward Elgar, by arranging to give at the first concert, of this season a complete Elgar ' rogramme. Mr Bingham was re-elected president, and tributes were paid to hts unfailing interest in the work of the choir. "Mr Justice Johnston and Mr A. K. Firth were elected vice-presi-dents, in addition to those already holding office, who were re-elected. It was decided to hold four subscribers' concerts during the present year.
