♦ — • MEETING OK COMMITTEE Mr G. S. McKenzic presided over a meeting of th 3 committee of the Sumner District High School. Also present were: Mrs E. Harvey, Messrs L. H. Fee, J. Browne. L. P. Lipseombe, and the headmaster 'Mr H. M. Stevens>. It was reported that the annual picnic showed a loss ot £4 4s. mainly attributable to showery conditions in the morning. The headmaster r.r.d staff were, congratulated upon successes attained in recent examinations. f>o per cent, of the pupils having gained matriculation. One pupil had had only two years' tuition at ihe school. The headmaster reported on tne success of the children in long-distance swimming. Many children of the primary classes had gained their 50 yards certificates. Measles were prevalent at the school, particularly in standard 111., where about 60 per cent, of the children were affected. The chairman announced that the next committee would be elected for two years, and that the householders' meeting would be held early in April.
