LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION.

ANNUAL MEETING. In the Economics Librarv at Canterbury University College last night, the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand League of Nations Union held its annual 'meeting and election of officers. Mr, A. C. Brassington presided over a good attendance. According to the annual report, the work of the Union during the year had consisted mainly of the organisation of monthly lectures. In addition, the Union "had sought the co-operation of the various Churches, and sermons had been' delivered on the work of the League of Nations and on the Disarmament Conference. With other organisations, the Union had secured signatures for the Women's Disarmament Petition. On Armistice Day, lectures by Mr A. C. Brassington, Mr G. Manning, and Mr R. M. Laing had been broadcasted, and the Rev. J. A._ Allan had given an address. The visit of Dr. T. Z. Koo and his speeches had bnen of great interest to the general public, and it was thought that a better understanding of the problems of China had resulted.

The balance-sheet showed a small credit. s ' Officers for the year were elected as follows —l'atrons, Bishop West-Wat-son and the Mayor of Christchuroh (Mr D. G. Sullivan); president, Mr R. A. Cuthhevt; vice-presidents, Mrs T. E. Taylor,. Dr. J. Hight, and Mr 11. M. Laing; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Manning; executive committee, Mrs A. T. ' Fraer, Mrs Richards, Miss E. M.
