ABOUT £BOOO COLLECTED YESTERDAY. With four full days and one half day to elapse before the imposition of the 30 per cent, penalty on rates unpaid before 4 p.m., on March 22nd, the amount of City rates collected to date ia still under 50 p£r cent, of the total amount levied. The amount collected yesterday was about £BOOO, the largest amount collected in one day this year to date. In the table which follows, showing the present position, the amount shown for the present year relating to the sum collected yesterday and to the total collected to date are approximate only, and the percentage of rates collected to rates levied consequently also is approximate.
