SCOPE OF BRITISH ASSISTANCE. (UKITED PRESS A6SOCIATION —BY ELECTRIC TELEC-RAPH —COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, March 14. In the House of Commons, Mr Malcolm Mac Donald (Under-Secretary for the Dominions), in answer to a question, said the research in connexion with sugar being conducted with the aid of British grants did not include the investigation, of the cost of making the Empire selfsupporting in sugar cane, only in part from beet sugar. The investigations in each territory were aided by Empire Marketing Board grants, and were directed at improving the efficiency of the local sugar industry.
