SOLDIERS' PENSIONS.
PROTEST AGAINST COMMISSION'S REPORT. A special meeting of the executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association was held last evening to discuss • the National Expenditure Commission's report. The following resolutions were carried:— "That this executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association, having considered the National Expenditure Commission's report, strongly protests against their recommendation in so far as they affect returned soldiers, their dependents, and soldiers' widows, it being distinctly understood that the pensions now Bjanted are for sacrifices made and disabilities received, and therefore urges the Government that in spite of the economic condition of the country that they disregard this section of the reI'ort. It further urges all returned men to attend a special general meeting to be held on Monday, March 21st, to the report." koiJ'i ß^ 88 !
