TINWALD EWE FAIR.

GOOD PRICE FOR TWOTOOTHS.

YARDING OF 29,000 SHEEP. • The yarding of about 29,000 sheep at the Tihwald Ewe Fair yesterday was about IOQO below last year's figure and 11,000 below tho record in : 1930. The featiilj*e of thfesale consisted of sevoval excellent lines of'two-tooths, all ot which realised -good prices. The market was topped with 60 nicely-pro-portioned two-tooth Corriedale-Romuey cross, carrying plenty of wool, which were sold at 22s 9d by the-New Zealand, Farmers' Co-operative Association., ..on .behalf of. Bares Estate (~\Vaterton). This price is just threepence short of this season's record ot 2Ss established at the Little River Fair last week, and is much in advance of tlie top price of 18s obtained by Mi D. Studholme (Coldstream) at last year's fair. This year Mr Studholme's two-tooth Cori'iedales brought 14s Bel. Several other pens of twowjeths sold on account of Jjarr's Estate realised 21s 9d, 21s, and 20s respectively, tlie line totalling 280. Another pen of 242 two-tooth halfbred. offered on account of a client realised 20s 6d, while Mr J. Davidson, of Maronan, obtained 17s 9d for 11G two-tooth Romney cross and Mr C. G. C. H'arper, of Blackthorn, sold 100 two-tooth Cori'iedales at 17s 2d. The majority of the sheep were pennod in poor condition, due to the laoJi of feed in the summer months.

At the beginning of the sale farmers wore reluctant to buy, owing to an' uncertainty of the values, and in consequence of this a large proportion was passed. Several sales were afterwards effected privately, however. The total yarding included quite a number of lines entered on hehalf of dealers, who were active both ns vendors and buyers. The principal sales were as follows : Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Titd., sold 011 account ' nf:— J. 0. Guinness (ISaliug), 120 two-tooth Romney cross at 16s 6d. E. S.
