TALKS IN PARIS.
SIR JOHN SIMON'S VISIT. EUROPEAN AFFAIRS DISCUSSED. (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, March 13. Sir John Simon (British Foreign Minister), who arrived in Paris from Geneva to attend the funeral of M. Aristide Briand, had an interview with' M. Andre Tardieu, Premier. The newspapers state that the conversations, which will be continued later, will cover a wide range of subjects of special interest to Great Britain and Franc© at the present time. Among other matters for discussion is the proposed Dauubian Economic Federation, regarding which France recently presented a memorandum. The Press anticipates that Sir John Simon will propose a preliminary conference to be attended by the larger European Powers and the five .Dartubian States, to consider the whole situati°n - . , . -r T A Sir John Simon is due in London today, and a meeting of Cabinet will be held on Monday, at which the Foreign Secretary will report on the subjects which have been under discussion at Geneva and Paris. ' , A communique issued by the French Foreign Office says M. Tardieu and Sir John Simon expressed satisfaction at the happy conclusion of the League of Nations' labours, by the unanimous vote in the final Far Eastern resolution, and they further reviewed the questions the Disarmament Conference will discuss next week. Sir John Simon and M. Tardieu then, considered various problems with which tlieir respective Governments at present are faced. In particular they examined the economic situation in Central and Danubian Europe, and r they _ found themselves in agreement that m this, as in all other matters, co-operation between France and Great Britain should extend over a wide field, with the two-fold; object of appeasing political rivalries and expediting economic reconstruction in Europe.
