Hanbury (Conservative member of the House of Commons for North Dorset) and his wife, chartered an aeroplane at Croydon on Saturday and flew in pursuit of their 6on, whp had gone to Gretna Green to marry Joan Eve, a granddaughter of Mr Justice Eve. The aeroplane landed at Blackpool owing to darkness, and the parents took a train to Gretna Green, whefre the famous blacksmith had refused to marry the couple, as they had not resided in Scotland for tho requisite three Mr and Mrs Hanbury went_ to Glasgow, arriving in the same train as the young people, and brought them back to London. On arrival at the station they were besieged by reporters and Press photographers. Mrs Hanbury later explained that the parents of both youngsters only objected to the engagement owing to their, youth. The son is only 17$, and Joan Eve is not yet 17 years old. They have been friends since childhood. Their engagement will be announced later.
