Tho Electricity Committee reported to last night's meeting of the City Council that there was now a definite prospect of ferro concrete poles manufactured in New Zealand being available for overhead lino work. Tho general manager of the Department recently witnessed a test on such poles in Wellington. The results suggested that when experiments were further developed, and details of design determined, the -possibilities were of definite interest. The chief feature of these poles was that instead of the concrete being placed in the ordinary way, it would be compacted by spinning at a high speed, as witli concrete pipes, and the poles would be hollow instead of solid. The committee was keeping in touch with developments, and as soon as the reliability and uniformity were assured, a locally-manufactured pole, instead of an imported one, would be a source of much satisfaction.
