FUNERAL.
LATE MR C. E. ORCHARD. The funeral of the late Mr Charles Earl Orchard was held at Kaiapoi Public Cemetery. The ReV. A. Hooper officiated at the service in the house and also at the graveside. Born at the Whalebone Cottage, North road, Papanui, 70 years ago, Mr Orchard spent his early life in that district, later removing with his parents to Ohoka. Ho took an active interest in the Methodist Church, and for a number of years was a teacher in the Sunday school. > The first services of, the Methodist Church were held in his parents' yfome at Harewod road before the Fneston Church was built. In 1885 he was married to Miss Catherine Levina Wilhscrolt. l'or some time they lived in Hastings latei coining back to the South Island, finally settling in Kaiapoi and Belfast where they resided until the time o Mr Orchard's death. He is iurvived by his' wife and five children; Mr \\ alter L, Orchard, MA? J. Tyson, Mrs L. Hoi brough, Mrs S. Matterson, and Mr C Svdnev Orchard. , „ .
