w ANNUAL MEETING OF *BRANCH. The fiftieth annual meeting of the North Canterbury' Branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute was held on.Friday evening, the president, Miss A. C. Finlayson, presiding over a large attendance of-members. In moving the adoption of the annual report, a summary of which has already been published. Miss Finlayson said that the year had been & difficult one. In addition to the 10 per cent, cut, the Government had been very reticent regarding proposed economies. "This uncertainty has now been removed," remarked the president, with a smile. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. , Officers for the year were elected as follows: —President, Mr W. A. Rumbold; vice-presidents, Miss A. C Finlayson, and Mr H. F. Gabites; lion, secretary, Mr J. Bowden; hon. treasurer, Mr V. J. Gamble; hon. auditor, Mr L. E. Rowley; committee of management, Misses M. E. Harvey, M. V. Kennedv. E. L. Sapsford, K. B. Turner, and M. H. .C Watson and Messrs O. <£. M. Boyce. W. C. Colee, B. E. Hayman, J. K, J|asveil 4 J, G.
