CHURCH PARADE. A church parade of sea and land Scouts, Girl Guides, and the Lyttelton Division of the St. John Ambulance Association was held yesterday morning, the parade assembling at the Y.W.C.A. and marching to the Methodist Church. The Eev, C. Blair, who is being transferred to another district, conducted the service. Naval Training. H.M.S. Wakakura left Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon with the first draft of the Eoyal Naval Volunteer Reserve for sea training. Diamond Harbour Burgesses. The first annual meeting of the Diamond Harbour Burgesses' Association was held at Godley House on Saturday | night, Mr T. Bowring presiding. The annual report referred to the formation of the Association on March 14th last. As a result of representations made concerning telephone communication, a new circuit was being installed and should soon be in operation. The matter of a water supply had been discussed. One scheme which was under consideration last year required a loan of £SOOO, which would require] at least £375 per annum to cover interest and sinking fund. Assuming this was restricted to Diamond Harbour as a separate rating area, the annual rateable value of Diamond Harbour was £1059. A general rate of 2s in the £ would produce £lO5 18s. The maximum water rate was 7 per cent, on the annual value —£74 2s 7d —and the minimum charge where water was laid on was 10s per annum. A water supply on those lines would be somewhat expensive, and apart from this it was considered inexpedient, as one of the landowners concerned was adamant concerning his riparian rights. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr T. Bowring; j secretary and treasurer, Mr F. Cartwright; committee, Messrs A. Sinclair, Hownrth, W. Painc, A. Nicholls, and J. | Gower, and Mesdamcs Paine, - Manson, Gilmour and Curtis. Yachting Club Dance. On Saturday evening the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Club held a very enjoyable dance in the Lyttelton Club Hall, which was effectively decorated with streamers and coloured lights for the occasion. A large attendance of Lyttelton and Redcliffs yachtsmen and their friends filled the ha.ll to its capacity and the gathering proved to be an unqualified success. The Hcrdman-Fisk Orchestra supplied the music, and Miss Phyllis Plimmer provided the supper extras. Mr M. Scott was M.C. Hockey. The Trinity Ladies' Hockey Club played the first match of the season on Saturday, when they met Redcliffs in a friendly game on tho reclamation ground which resulted in a win for Lyttelton, 1 to nil. •JlOf) A handicap stroke match was played on the Chartcris Bay links yesterday by members of the Lyttelton Golf Club.
