The markets "were dull on call on Saturday .morning, bidding for most' classes of stocks being spiritless, buyers of Government stocks having receded following the publication of; the Economy Commission proposals tp. balance the Budget. Transactions, exclusive of ..vestibule business, were: — 23 E., S., and A. Bank. o Bank of New South Wales. 375 Bank of New Zealand. 200 New Zealand Breweries. •200 Christchurch Gas. 900 Mahakipawa Goldfiejds. New Zealand Government -four' and a half per cent, tax tree issues were offered at £92 10s, buyers at £B9. Sellers of the 51 per cent.. 1937 issues were offering at buyers at £92; E.,- S., and A. Bank shares'eased Is to business at iA Is, 6(1, with closing quotations 6cL on either side. Bank .of New South, Wales were firm at £25. the market closing 2s 6d either way. Bank of New Zealand shares were firm, with dealings at 42s 4d, 42s sd, and 42s 6d, closing quotations 42s 4d buyers, 42s 6d sellers. Buvers of New Zealand Refrigerating fully paid shares raised thenbids to 9s 9d. ; sellers'at 10s 2d. Christchurch Gas shaves realised 24s 6d, sellers staving in' at that pnee, buyers at 24s 3d--the'los paid claimed buyers nt lis Bd, but sellers wanted 12s. 3d.; New Zealand Breweries changed hands at 23s and. 22s 9d.- and more were offered at 23s 3d, buyers at 22s 6d. Australian Glass shares hardened to 29s 9d bnvers, sellers at 31s 3d. Buyers of British Tobaccos, cum dividend, raised thwir bids to 26? 3d; at "fe 7d Unsupported sellers of Burns, Philp wme down to 36?. The Bank of New- Zealand has received the following advice' from its London office as at close of business last week:— Frozen Meat— r The market for wether;mutton is quiet and unchanged. The market for ewes is more active. The: present demand for lambs is good, and likely to con,: tinue. The market, is firmer for lighterweightß, Heavy-weights are, steady. Per Lb. : d. d.
DAIRY PRODUCE. The New Zealand-Dairy Produce Board lias received -the following market report from its London office/dated March 11th, 1932: — Butter—New Zealand, salted 110s to 112s (last week' 108s to 110s), unsalted 114s to 118g (114s to 118s) ; first whey 102s (104s), second whey 100s (102s). Deliveries, New Zealand,- 1650 tons, in store, New Zealand, 3800 tons (includes 88 tons Matakana, 375 tons Bangitane, excludes 325 tons Pakeha). Australian, salted 104s to 107s (103s to 106s), unsalted 106s to 110s (106s to 110s); deliveries Australian 8043 tons,, in store Australian 2783 tons. Argentine, unsalted 104s to 110s (106s to 110s) ; Danish, 107s f.0.b., 128s spot (118s, 136s to 140s). Market quiet. Betail prices unchanged. New Zealand Is 2d)' Danish Is 4d. The Empire Marketing Bbard's estimated stocks of all batters are 358,109 boxes, compared, with last year 266,695' boxes. Italy has increased the duty on butter to 250 lira per 100 kilos. Switzerland has reduced the duty by 80 francs to 150 francs per 100 kilos, but is imposing a quota from April • Ist. France has increased her import quota for the March • quarter by a further 1200' tons to 3600 tons. The export of imports from London: to the Continent is negligible. On the part of Germany there is small buying owing to the difficulty of securing foreign exchange. Danish. exports have not cleared this week, »nd are offering at 102s to -IP4s f.o.b. The recent high prices of-Danish butter stimulated northern demandfor box butter. Cheese—rNew Zealand, white 61s to 62s (60s to 61s), coloured 625. to 635. (61s to 03s).
