THE WEATHER. Meteorological observations taken at the I'agnetic Observatory, Chiistchuicli, al 'j a.m. and 5 p.m. on March 11th;
Auukland—There was a continuation of line weather yesterday, but the sky was dull and cloudy, and' a light breeze varied be- i tween east and north. The barometer was practically steady at 30.10. Wellington—Fine weather prevailed yesterday. the bright sunshine being tempered by a light southerly breeze. / Dunedin—The weather was clouilv and fine yesterday with » fresh breeze from the uorth-eost. The barometer was falling, aud registered 30.1 Forecast. General Situation —An anticyclone still covers New Zealand, but a depression is centred in tho South Tasmon Sea. Winds —Moderate south-east to southerly winds, backing later to north-east and north.
Sens (Xew Zealand waters) —Moderate, but southerly swell south of East Cape; otherwise smooth to nioderaet seas. Eastern Tasman Sea—Winds tending northerly and freshening; seas smooth to moderate but rising. Weather—Still fair to fine generally, but becoming unsetlted in the west after about 24 hour.?, and temperatures rising.
