The trophy is for annual competition, to bo*won by the-owner of the herd with the highest test, and to ,be held by him until the following season. Provision is made for twenty plaques for the names of the winners. After these have been filled the shield reverts to the Association permanently. It is interesting to record that the first winner—Mr J. Monk, Lower Kokataiii—had the highest producing herd in New Zealand last year.
