Xew Zealand amateur athletic championships were commenced on tho Domain to-day in calm, overcast, warm weather The track was in fast condition. The outstanding features were the sprin ing of A. J. Elliott, who equalled the New Zealand record of 9 4-smo for 100 yards »n his heat. Unfortunately for the runner the slightest of breeze was Bo that no record can be applied for.
