MOTOR-CYCLE RACES.
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONS TO COMPETE. To day grass-track champions will meet at tho Now Brighton Trotting Grounds, when the most representative gathering of motorcycle riders yet to visit Christchurch will contest the New Zealand Open Championship. The fields are larger and the machines are faster thun ever before. Records should be broken with such a wealth of expert riders appearing. Harry Mangham, who has been defeating all-comers, will be there and a, great battle is expected between him and Percy Coleman, the world's grass-track champion. The pick of the local men are strongly represented, and the hopes of Canterbury are centred on Tom McC!eary, Ron Carpenter, and Reg. Ranby— strong riders all. Wally Thomas will be a fourth of the local brigade who will bear watching in the big event. In addition there is a strong contingent of North Island riders. The track has never been in better order und it is anticipated that times."will generally improve. • Grass-track racing is deservedly popular in Christchurch and there is every evidence that to-da-y's 'meeting will be the best. yet. The racing should be faster and brighter and finishes closer than ever before. '
Arrangements have been made. to park motor vehicles, which will be. admitted free.
