VISIT FROM ROYALTY.
LITTLE HOPE HELD OUT. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELE3SAM ) WELLINGTON, March 10. The hope that a member of the Royal Family might be able to visit New Zealand next year on the occasion of the Congress of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire was expressed by Mr S. Jacobs, president of the United Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association, at the opening of the annual conference today. Replying, the Governor-General said that there was no lack of willingness on the part of the King and members of the Royal Family to comply with the invitation. It was only fair to say, however, that economic conditions in the Old Country and in New Zealand rendered the realisation of the hope extremely difficult. Lord Bledisloe said that his efforts would be unremitting, but unless there was a very substantial improvement in the financial position and outlook of both countries, he very much feared that the.v would not have the opportunity of welcoming a member ,of the Royal House.
