HOCKEY.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening. Present: Messrs L. L. Smith (chairman), R. Wear, 11. Snook, J. Squire, F. Fullwood, B. W. Rogers, H. W. Rogers, L. F. N. Ward, P. Berry, W. H. Down, and A. L. Graham. A motion of sympathy wi,th th<s relatives of Mr J. Bellamy was carried. A letter expressing appreciation of the hospitality extended to the Auckland representative hockey team whilst in Christchurch was* received from the Auckland Hockey Association. Mr T. K. Douds forwarded his resignation on account of having been transferred to Palmerston North. ' > • A deputation from the Christchurch Club waited on the meeting in reference to tlifi club's financial position, which w'fls -not considered satisfactory; The stated that the club had experienced great difficulty in collecting subscriptions from the members, and it was agreed that as the club's liability appeared to be insurmountable, its affiliation should be cancelled. - . . The Emergency Committee s action m ordering one hundred sticks for schoolboys was approved. ■■■■.■ Mr E. (Jracie tendered his resignation as trustee, and Mr L. L. Smith was elected to fill the • vacancy. 'rtio Technical Club was granted permis-. sion to travel to Dunedin at Easter. The date of the annual meeting was fixed for Wednesday, March 23rd. The chairman's suggestion for a novelty match, Old Timers v. Women Players, at Lancaster Park, in connexion with the Mavor's Relief Fund, was approved.
SELWYN CLUB. The annual meeting of the Selwj n Hockoy Club wa3 held on Tuesday evening. The president, Mr W. Richmond, presided over a record attendance oj members. In mov;ti<> the adoption of the annual report the chairman congratulated the club on a splendid year. All the activities "of the club were in a healthy state. The senior team again had won the championship and -the tiirt and fourth grades also had won the cups of their respective competitions. In addition the seniors had won the five-a-side • competition. As usual the club had been very well reiiiesenteid in the Canterbury shield team. Ov.-iri"- to a special effort made,, dunng the year "the finances or the club now were in a satisfactory position. The thanks •of the niub were due especially to the coaches, whose fine work mainly was responsible lor the excellent results on the playing fields. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr Walter Johnson, president, Mr T. W. Richmond; vice-presidents, "Rev. _k. Yv". Ilames, Messrs E. J. Howard, M.P., Win. Bell, S. J. L. Cray; assistant secretary, Mr Kov Lane; hon. treasurer, "Mr J. L. Squire; assistant treasurer, Mr H. D. Beaumont; hon; auditor, Mr Em Smith; club captain, Mr C. b.
