_—« NORTH CANTERBURY UNION. The imnual meeting of the North Canterbury Methodist Sunday School Union was held on Saturday afternoon. A welcome was extended to Miss Wilson of the Youth Department of tho Presbyterian Church, also the Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt, iW.A. A vote of thnnks was passed to all who had helped to make the Conference Young People';* Demonstration a success, especially 31V H. MeCaffery, Mrs Burley, Aiis.s W. Smith, Mr Melville Lawry, tho local choir leaders, and ushers. The election of offtcers resulted as follows: — President: Mr \V. C. Francis; vicepresidents: Miss J. K. Croasdale, and Sister Ruth, Messrs Harrington, Hall, and Withell; secretary and treasurer: Mr C. H. Colechin; auditor: Mr W. A. Bascand; Press reporter and country correspondent: Miss D. Carter; radio organiser: Mr J. H. Jones; official visitor: Mr A. Williams; primary organiser: Miss G. Jones; representative to Y.M.8.C.: Mr W. C. Francis; representative to Y.W.B.C. *. Miss Duder; representative to the Synod: Mr C. H. Hall. The ex-president. Miss I. K. Croasdale, expressed her thanks to all those who had helped her during her year of office, and handed to Mr Francis the President's Bible, which is the ensignia of office. Teacher Training. The Rev. E. P. Blamires gave an address on "The Study of the Intermediate Scholar." "I want to speak in an introductory way on tho subject we will be taking at our teacher training lectures in a few weeks' time." sa.id Mr Blamires. "We desire to make a more intimate contact with our schools, especially those who are willing to help themselves; and so we are prepared to maintain ■ a regular correspondence with fifty or a hundred schools'who are willing to communicate with us in this w.i.v. Any questions - asked we will answer and do what we can to help our school,s in this way. ■_ "It is reasonable to expect a proportion of Bible Class members to become S-mda.v - School teachers.- The Bible Classes .should:!)© pleased and honoured when they are asked to supply the Sunday .School with a teacher from time to time."
