Yesterday, the , Christchurch secoaduv, schools held their airau«l swimming relajj races in the Boys' High School bath, when' ' " there was a,large attendance of .spectators to witness the two events. High School. , This is the ■ fourth year that ; the senior evept has been' ' • ±l. Christ's College were successful ': in tne three previous contests. The junior • " event was only instituted last year, when the races were held at St. Andrew's College, and on that occasion was won by Boys* Higfc School. Results:— ' : JUNIOR EVENT (under 15 years). [' Technical High School .. 1 ! Boys" High School ..8 Christ's College .. , .. 8 Technical were the quickest away, and the first length saw tihem strike a lead of a ' ' yard from Boys' . High School, who were '■ closely followed by Christ's College. This order was maintained until- the end of the ■ race, Technical winning comfortably by about three, yards. The winning team consisted ot K. Rimmer, K. Cutting, R. Blake, and 8. JCingdon, who swam in th»t order. Time, lmin 21 3-sscc. , SENIOR EVENT. Boys' High School .. .. 1 St. Andrew's College .. .. 2 Christ's College ..3 Froni a good even start, S't. Bede's soon" assumed., the lead, and at the end of the first length were leading by two yards' from r * St. Andrew's, \vho were a touch ahead o£ - Boys' High School. The second length saw the St. Bede's lead cut down to about a foot, whilst Boys' High School just headed St.;. Andrew's. St. Bede's now. however, faded out, being passed by Boys' High School, St."'* Andrew's, and : Christ's College, who too 1 ! ■ i the water in that order for the iinsl A great contest ensued between Boys' High i School.and St. Andrew's, and, amid great - i excitement, the former school - gained toft,-- i verdict by a touch, Christ's College being »' yard away third.
