SUMNER BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
Mr Douglas Smith presided over a meeting of fcho Sumner Burgesses' Association last evening. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatires of. Mr G. Gctson, a former member of the Association. The secretary, Mr Geo. Murray, wrote tendering his resignation. The resignation was received with regret. The chairman read a letter from Mr J. Cock suggesting that a committee be set up to make a survey of the borough and to draw up a report of suggested improvements to roads, fences, drainage, reserves, and blind corners, and to submit it to the next meeting. He suggested that the report could be approved by tlie Association and then handed on to the Council. Mr S. Middleton drew attention lo the danger resulting from falling stones underneath the cliffs after heavy rain. Ho did not know bow the Council could improve the position unless tho site of the proposed swimming pool were filled in and the road formed away from the cliffs. It was decided to ask the Council to clean up the beach in the vicinity-of the pier.
