REGENT THEATRE.
——» "OVER THE HILL." "Over the Hill," now at tho Regent, is a dramatic play, packed with human appeal, which should attract most audiences. _ Mrs Selby, who is troubled by a well-intentioned but indolent husband, cias three sons. Isaac is a fawning hypocrite, who auccoeds for the most part in cloaking bis evil ways; Tom ia well-meaning, and Johnny is of sterling worth, though- continually- boaring the punishment for the acts of others. The characters ol thesa three aro developed from infancy, and at the same time there ia shown the gradual cha.nge in tho mother. Johnny goes lo gaol lo save his father, just , when he has won the love of a flaxen-haired girl, and the mother is passed on- by the other nous, until she finally goes to the poorhouae. Johnny returns to give Isaac his just punishment and to provide a happy ending. Tho acting of the mother is good, and the final scenes are very we'll done.
