SDMNEB. The Sumner Borough Council' held -its fortnightly rusting last night, the DeputyMayor (Mr H. W.* Harris) presiding. -P sent: Cm. F, D. Oldridge, A. Holdetf, JT. V E. Tait, G. F- Allen, J.-8- Barr, -C. Hart, ; arid H. I*. Wiggins. The engineer repiortedthat root* had i»w removed from the sewer main in Park roau, t Scarborough. Three broken main piper i« N&yland street, opposite- .the Town pl'i f had been replaced. In the main out-fall in ths back Council's portion had been- cleaned tO ,-4oe intersection of Park and queen street s,*nd would 1 be continued <0 the foot of the Xtft-, telton Hill road. Most of the wp«tyowpers had cleaned, the portion through, .their ' properties. Notice* .had been * sent to' the others. • r' A section of the five-inch water mala In. On the Esplanade reserves near the Cave Bock, the flower-beds had been cleaned and the grass plots out. At St. Leonards square the playing areas had .been cut and' the: growth cleared from- around the fences. "■ On the "Woolston. waterworks reserve, men were cleaning the weeds from the ■ young macrocarpa • trees. A gate- given "by the Mayor, Mr W. JT,; 'Nicholson, .* had been erected at the entrance. A report wan received from the engineer " on - the cost of connecting Mr Abbott's .property to the sewer. ■ " . Mr Harper also reported on the public • track leading from' Mr Paterson's residence, to the Scarborough Park. It was decided to repair and* seal a section and to place ■. concrete supports round- the standards in ■> the fencing. • / The engineer's report was received and adopted. . The sanitary inspector reported upon - a , group of residences at the Scarborough end of the Esplanade and suggested the building. cf. a reception tank and the use of electrical pumping to connect with, the sewer. The matter waß referred to the engineer for- a rerort. • \ Inspector Hall reported a clean bill of - bralth for the borough. Cr. Harris, acting-Mayor, stated that it was a long time since any case of' infectious disease had been reported.
