FALL IN EXPENDITURE. FORECAST OF NATIONAL BUDGET. IBKITISH OFFICIAL RIKELISS.) (Received March 6th, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, March 4. When tho Chancellor of tho Exchequer, Mr Nevillo Chamberlain, presents his national budget next month, probably on April 19th, it is anticipated that he will requiro to make provision for a total expenditure of about £792,000,000. lmnieniso as is this sum; it will be tho first Budget below £'800,080,000 for eight yeras, in spite of the fact that this country is paying its way out of revenue as a result of the drastic economics put into operation for this purpose last September. It is now clear that the economies then planned will actually be exceeded, and in place of savings of £70,000,000 the figuro will bo approximately £78,000,000. The broad effect of the Government's drastic policy of economies is that the expenditure will bo about £11,000,000 below that of a year ago.
