RUGBY. CANTERBURY UNION. annual report. The annual report of the Canterbury Rugby Union for the 1931 season draws special attention in its introductory remarks to the necessity for clubs to discuss before the annual meeting the notice of motion to be brought forward that the recommendations of the New Zealand Rugby Union that all affiliated unions adopt the 3-2-3 scrum formation and abolish the wing-forward position be adopted by the Canterbury Rugby Union as an experiment for, say, the first two competition matches of the coming season. Mr S. F. Wilson is the mover and Mr A. E. McPhail the seconder. The report states that a profit of £144 9s lid resulted from the 1931 season's operations, which must be regarded as highly satisfactory. The amount of loan from the New Zealand Rugby Union had been reduced by the payment of £IOO, making the principal now owing £ 700. In regard to Rugby Park, the report states that it will be necessary for the Union to repay yearly the sum of £2OO off the principal sum now owing. It had been unfortunate that the amount available for distribution to charity had shown such a decrease, but the sum of £9O was allocated towards the relief of distress. The sum of £3957 4s 8d had been raised by the Union for charity since 1921. The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15th. | BRITISH RESULTS.
