i MADAME OTTLEE»S PUPILS. The presence in ; Christcburch of a distinguished English rhusician, Mr Gordon Bryf.li, has given Maclarao Ottlee the opportunity of obtaining his Services as judge at her students' competition on March 12th. This competition, in aid of the funds of tho Central Belief Depot, will be held at the Radiant Hall, Kilmcie atreet, and its educational valiia and the object for which the funds will be used wili, it is hoped, ensure » ready response from music-lovers.-Mr Bryan is a «onp composer of note anci one of the moslj interesting sections will consist of hia songs, when students will havu the unusual experience of having then* work judged by the one person who can know lor certain what interpretation and effect are desired. ' , ~ , The combined effort class should also prove ir foresting, aa the ability of singer and pianist so to combine their work as to make tliQir performance finished thing, if a. more mm accomplishment than, is usually realised. The opportunity for students to appear on thf- concert platform where confidence and the flair for public work can be most surely acquired, and the chance of singing to the accompaniment of a professional of proved worth such aa Miss Lillian Harper, will be of value to them. And the wide choice of songs and the fact that there will net be the wearisome reiteration of one -sftng, should make the competition-an..enter-tainment of, unusual interest. s
