Last night his Excellency the Gover-nor-General presented * the Royal Humane Society medals to several resiI dents ot Island Bay in recognition of their -brave conduct in connexion with t e wreck of the steamer Progress last May Silver medals were presented to •Oonstables Hammond and Baker, and a°it t/laucl ® Petherick and Raffaelo Airano. Bronze pedals were presented Q °, ? e £ er Isbister. Salvi Volpicelli,. a®? o '. Cataldo Mazzala, Andrew George Tait, T. A. Jtiumphreys, Raffaelo Pirsico, and Ernest Connor.
