WOMAN'S SKULL ON PIPE. A well-known doctor of literature insists on smoking nothing but pipes with very long stems. "So," he explains, "that .he may better view the rising whirls and patterns of the smoke, which to the true smoker is one of the major pleasures of tobaeco." A pipe should be designed for balance and simplicity rather than for embellishments and filigree work. The only carving the doctor would allow on his pipes was a woman's skull. This, "partly because a woman was being turned to some use, which was seldom the case, and partly because woman had often been the cause of an honest mail breaking pipes and throwing away good tobacco for the love v of a pretty face." But no woman, conld object to the fragrant aroma,of Luxury tobacco. In fact more than not, a woman feels envious of a man >yho smokes a pipe of such appetising tobacco, for it is a pleasure in which they cannot participate. Luxury costs Is 7d a 2-oz packet. —5
