Bishop and Mr# Mowll "*® r * returning to their headquarters after a visit to New Zealand and Australia,, and they were attacked just before they had reached their destination* Bishop and Mrs Mowll had travelled 800 miles up the Yangtse-Kiang transferred to a native'boat "When" i t preaching the end of tnett journey,'thev were boarded by a party of Chinese, whom they took to be the local Government tax officials. Suddenly the Chinese leader drew a revolver" and ordered the Bishop and his .party to put their hands up; and demanded their money and .valuables., Both . Bishop and Mrs Mowll received scalp wounds; fortunately not of a serious nature, from blows with the butts of pistols. After they had Surrendered their valuable*, the parly was permitted to proceed.
