Kamet (25,447 ft), the highest peak ever scaled by man. [Last June members of a small British Himalayan expedition, led by the ■ youthful mountaineer, Mr I. b. Smvthe, succeeded .in reaching the summit of.Mt..Kamet. Mr Smythe was a. member of the expedition to Mt. Kanciienjunga (28,156 ft) in 1930. Mt." Kamet stands in the United Provinces and is -the,-second, highest peak in the Empire... Nine previous attempts were made on Mt. Kamet without success.
