EARL AND COUNTESS OF STRATHMORE CELEBRATE THEIR GOLDEN WEDDlNG.—Fifteen hundred people from the surrounding district attended a garden party on the lawn of Glamis Castle recently on the'occasion of the golden wedding of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore. Among the guests were the Duke and Duchess of York and the Princesses Elisabeth and Margaret Rose.

ENGLISH SCHOOLBOYS ON THEIR WAY TO AUSTRALIA TO UNDERTAKE AN EDUCATIONAL TOUR.—The party of 22 English public schoolboys who arrived at Wellington by the Corinthic yesterday from London. They represent the schools of Ampleforth, Br ad field, Charterhouse, Eton, Glenalmond, Harrow, Marlborough, Repton, Radley, Sedburgh, St owe, and Winchester. In Australia the boys will be separated and placed on sheep and cattle stations as guests of the owners.
