Without food for days, 19 destitute families, including 40 children, invaded the Provincial Parliament buildings, declaring tfiat they would camp there until the Government recognised their needs. A hundred and fifty unemployed picketed, the outside of the buildings to prevent the ejection of the families, wild have beon here less than a year, and are therefore not eligible for city relief. Mr W. R. Clubb, Minister for Public Works, agreed to let them remain until social agencies could arrange for shelter, whereupon the Chamber was immediately filled with other unemployed dragging mattresses.
